Entry 13: Welcoming Evolution of Self

Awakening to the Fource

Evolution lies at the foundation of our universe. Within every living thing lies the potential for growth and advancement. Many of us have lost sight of this fundamental truth.

With the way our lives are set up, it is all too easy to unconsciously succumb to a life of complacency. In doing so, we slowly transform into creatures of habit, stuck in our ways, and all the while waste our creative faculties.

But, valuing our part in the evolutionary nature of the universe is a core part of self-actualization. We must engage with the process, no matter how challenging that might be. By taking responsibility for our piece of the Fource, we can change the future.

This rodding session focuses on evolution.

Being in the Fource

In this section, I will share information I obtained through a rodding session (for more info, check out The Rodding Method before you continue reading here). I hope you find this information informative and inspiring, but that is honestly not why I share it. I share it in order to contribute to the ever-growing pool of information about the universe.

Be.

Life continues to evolve.
Choosing to actively participate in the evolutionary nature of the universe is valuable.

Inherent in evolution is struggle, adaptation, and development.

Struggle signals the need for adaptation.
Adaptation, however, is unbounded.
This means adaptation does not always yield favorable outcomes.
Development is actively engaging with the evolutionary process in a favorable way.

Evolution is, therefore, a cooperative activity.
By struggling and adapting favorably, beings develop.
Evolution leads beings towards development, but whether or not beings adapt favorably is their choice.

Be open to more information.
Messengers are all around you.
Go in peace.

Following the Fource

In this rodding session, the evolutionary nature of not only our universe, but our very own selves manifests as a central theme. Evolution both shapes and enhances reality. Struggle, opportunity, adaptation, and development are key features of the evolutionary process.

As we age and become more aware of ourselves and the world around us, one thing becomes abundantly clear: to live is to suffer.

Suffering is central to lived experience. We continually face obstacles throughout life — ranging from physical illness and injury to relational conflicts and financial hardships. Sometimes it feels as if the world itself is against us, dooming us to fail. Oftentimes it can feel easier to blame our struggles on things external to us, but this mentality is, ultimately, futile.

Much like a “check engine” light on a car — suffering, struggle, strife actually serve as a signal…an indicator that something needs attention. No matter how much or how often it may seem otherwise, change always has and always will begin on the micro level. We have to turn inward and analyze our own operating system before assuming the problems lie beyond our own skin.

Opportunity and adaptation do not always generate favorable outcomes though. We could reject or deny the opportunity for adaptation outright. Or perhaps we accept the opportunity to adapt, but do so in an unfavorable way. For example, we find ourselves struggling with anxiety, and so we reach for a glass of wine or a beer (or three) and successfully distract ourselves from the anxiety, but poison our livers in the process, bringing additional suffering later down the line. There was suffering, opportunity, and adaptation, but outcomes were still ultimately unfavorable.

Development, it seems, is dependent on us adapting to struggle in a favorable way. Adapting favorably involves welcoming evolution of self. Evolution of self augments candor, responsibility, and intentionality. Being honest with ourselves and taking responsibility for the problems manifest in our own bodies and minds is foundational to development. Intentionality in addressing these dysfunctions in a healthy way is the next meaningful step towards development and a reduction in suffering.

For us to grow in a favorable way and meaningfully contribute to the evolutionary process of the universe, we have to start by addressing our own internal suffering — be it physical, psychological, or both. Once we have made meaningful progress on that front, generosity and benevolence often follow naturally.

Generosity and benevolence are evolutionarily advantageous to all life. When we struggle, seize the opportunity for adaptation, and adapt favorably, we develop. When we do this, we actively contribute to the evolutionary process of the universe. We cooperate with life itself.
