Entry 6: Quieting the Mind

Awakening to the Fource

We beings live in an increasingly noisy world. Many of us are constantly surrounded by noise, just as we are constantly surrounded by information. While being surrounded by information can be beneficial in many respects, it can be harmful in other respects. Many of us already understand this.

Iphone interruption and distraction

In this blog entry, we will be exploring the value of turning away from the noise, away from information, and focusing on quieting the mind. By listening more deeply, and becoming more aware of how our minds work, we can create more peace within our beings and our everyday lives. It all starts with adopting a practice that centers on quiet time.

Mindfulness meditation is one practice that can quiet the mind. In mindfulness meditation, we practice observing our minds. We learn how to become more aware of our thoughts, emotions, and underlying mental processes. As we do this, it becomes easier to not get swept up in whatever it is our minds are thinking or craving at any given point in time.

Becoming quiet in our beings is not easy. Anyone who claims that to be true is not being honest. Becoming quiet in one’s being takes time and dedication. However, through consistently engaging in practices like mindfulness meditation, we can become not only more quiet, but inspired — inspired in ways we likely would not have found by any other means.

Mindfulness creates a blank canvas. A blank canvas creates space. And within space, emerges tranquility and peace.

Being in the Fource

In this section, I will share information I obtained through a rodding session (for more info, check out The Rodding Method before continuing reading here). I hope you find it informative and inspiring, but that is honestly not why I share it. I share it in order to contribute to the ever-growing pool of information about the universe.

Be.

Beings are struggling more than ever to quiet their minds.
Valuing both quiet time and noise is essential to flourishing.

Beings now choose noise over quiet more instances than not.
As noise becomes more common, quiet time becomes more unnatural.

Beings depend on noise constantly,
both as a source of information and as a means for escape.
Noise is valuable, but noise at the expense of quiet time is a mistake.
Beings must become more comfortable with being quiet.
By becoming more quiet, beings can experience Energy.

Energy lives in silence.
Information lives in silence.
By not prioritizing silence, beings neglect a significant dimension of existence.

Life is meant to include both silence and noise.
A being that is valuing silence and noise will know peace.

Be open to more information.
Messengers are all around you.
Go in peace.

Following the Fource

In this rodding session, the Fource emphasizes the value and purpose of quiet time. We beings have become so accustomed to living with noise. Whether it be the zoom of cars passing by our homes or the internal chatter running through our minds — noise churns around us and within us.

Noise from our external surroundings is not always within our power to adjust. But the noise coming from inside of us, on the other hand, now that is capable of change.

The chatter within our minds, like many aspects of ourselves, is malleable. Although we cannot just ‘will’ our mental chatter to go away forever, we can learn how to make valuable adjustments to the way we interpret that chatter. With practice and consistency, we can become more quiet in our beings. That is, we can become more at peace and more present in our daily lives.

Now, it’s worth pointing out here that quieting the mind is not natural. Our minds are naturally busy, constantly filtering information through a lens colored and shaped by our prior experiences and cultural influences. What is natural and what is valuable, however, does not always coincide. I am not saying that our default mental processes do not have value — clearly, they do. Rather, there is also great value in cultivating the ability to step out of one’s default stream of consciousness. By becoming more aware of our minds’ “default hardware,” it becomes easier to step out of it.

This poses the question: why might it be valuable to cultivate the ability to step outside one’s default mental patterns?

Well, because sometimes our minds can lead us astray. Our minds often chase pleasure and amusement. Amusement and pleasure can become addictive. Again, this is natural. What is natural and what is valuable do not always coincide.

The problem with perpetually seeking pleasure and amusement is that this often degrades our beings. The Fource can communicate so much easier in silence. The Fource is underneath our default consciousness. When we practice being quiet, over time, it becomes easier to listen. Listening is valuable. For us to become better at listening, we have to value quiet time over amusement and pleasure. This is not natural, but it is valuable.

With practice, being quiet can become pleasurable. Openness is critical to transformation. If you are open to change, if you are open to prioritizing quiet time, the Fource will flow through you. As the Fource flows through you more freely, you will know peace.
